I tried to set up my laptop to stream its webcam to the internet. I was able to get it to work without many issues at all and I am going otget a webcam for a Desktop Linux system that i will evenutaly use to watch my living room.
I will take some screen shots and upload them soon. Bascially I used the VLC that came installled with Ubuntu 8.1 when you click the [MEDIA] Then [Streaming or Ctr-S] From there Pick the tab Capture Device (NOTE: Basically how I understand this you can stream files, DVD's ... pretty cool stuff will have to try these out as well. In this case we ae streaming a WebCam) Click the [Stream] at the bottom Pick HTTP
That is it click steam and it worked for me. You should be able to see your self to confirm the web cam is working. |
