First a little background info for you.
Costco and Like Companies is really not offering the Warranty, these are coming from Dell, Acer or HP. You can get the same warranty directly from Dell, Acer or HP. They will by a batch of these to get a small discount and is giving around 50$-100$ off what you can get for the exact same one from Dell.com for example.
That being said this site

- http://www.newegg.com/
can yield a little better savings in almost any case, and if you go through the Manufacture with a coupon you get what you want instead of a Pre-Built PC. By getting what you want you can save even more by downgrading stuff you don't need or would never use
- Like a Nice DVD Burner for a Laptop is not what I would get. I would get a simple reader and if I need to burn a DVD buy a External DVD burner that is USB powered. This is not something you will use often.

a couple Must-have's
- AT least 4GB of RAM
- At Least 160GB HD
- I would stick with Acer, HP or Dell
- Don't get the Virus Software, I suggest an alternative
- Don't worry about getting a fancy DVD writer ... in a laptop. spend the money on a bigger Hard Drive or more Ram or nicer screen. You can get inexpensive USB drives that will do better.
What I would do,
Try out the laptops at the store, look at the USB slots it has, where they put them, how the lid opens and closes, if it has a built in media card reader. Do the speakers sound nice and pick between the HP, Acer and Dell. It is hard to tell the difference online, but technically speaking there are almost all the same.
Once you find what you like write down what it is and buy it online, or atleast compare the cost online.
